My wife and I today went to a “Genetic Counselor” to what we thought… discuss the benefits vs risks of the Amniocentesis test, but what we soon came to realize was more of an attempt towards pushing us to “Terminating” Aiden than an “informative” session. While she did do her job of informing us of the risks, she took it upon herself — with her CERTIFICATION (not a phd) in Medical Counseling and Genetics — to give us her OWN thoughts on Aiden’s cardiac issues. Somehow she thought she was more informed than the top PHD carrying childrens heart specialists in our great country. We think not.
This test provides absolutely no benefit to Aiden nor his surgeons and only provides us with a “possible” answer to “is there any other issues?”. And can also be done without risk AFTER Aiden comes into this world. While we want Aiden to have the best possible quality of life, we think there is a “fine-line” to playing God and being selfish on our behalf to “know” and so have decided, no more “testing” — while we will gladly visit Children’s Hospital for updated fetal echo’s (no risk AND good to check on Aiden and Tracy) we will not undergo any additional testing (invasive or otherwise) until Aiden is born and his God-Enabled surgeons want to test him.
The report and test we believe…. Faith through God
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the kind words, support and many many many prayers. (Entire Church Congregations in PA and CO!) One prayer I want to share is from Jeanne Echard, the mother and grandmother of very special friends of ours in Colorado, who days previously at 85 years old suffered multiple strokes. While Dr’s gave her no chance at all to regain any form of composure, she did… and she selfishlessly prayed for Tracy, Aiden and myself over her own ailments. She passed away a few days later. We pray for the hearts of those affected to be lightened by the love of the Lord. And we thank Jeanne for her selfishless prayer and most likely taking this situation directly up with God himself

God is able! We have a now healthy 21 month old angel, Anna. She was born with complete AV canal and Down Syndrome, along with many other health complications. Our family endured one trial after another spending 5 out of her first 6 months in the hospital, most of that time she was hanging on for her life. The Lord sustained her and no matter how hard times got we allowed Him to be in total control. Just keep praising the Lord as He is worthy (no matter what trial we face) and peace will be yours. We spent a lot of time in prayer and fasting and asked that our family, friends, and church would do the same in agreement with us. She just had a 2nd heart surgery in March and once again Jesus was with her. We will keep your family and Aiden in our prayers. The verse we held on to was Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised.” God Bless!
