First, if today was on a scale of 1 being good and 10 being bad… We’d have more numbers added than in the US deficit total. The same Docs that had to tell us Aiden couldn’t surgically be repaired in Denver told us they will not but Aiden on a transplant list. They self-admittedly are not capable of repairing one of his hurdles, a flap inside there that moves blood around. So while they told us the first day we could try the medical options, they dash our hopes with “no… it’s just too risky”… Risky? He may die? So you want me to take him home to die instead? Whatever…
This fight isn’t over… Not by a long shot… While my little bugger has a heart beat, I am not giving up. So I called in the reinforcements, Chris de Diego (one of my best friends and former pastor), Terry Schriener (someone who has never stopped caring about me or my family ever, and a devote follower of the lord) and Walter White (a pastor who’s words move mountains) come with me to pray over Aiden. Walter anointed our son as we all prayed VERY moving words. We told God that this is in your hands and this is your miracle. Thousands of people are moved by Aiden and his fight, no one could deny his saving would be nothing short than the biggest miracle one could ever witness.
Which brings me to this…. During the exact time we were praying over Aiden — something happened, which I just found out about… Dr Pedro del Nido emailed me, at almost midnight in Boston….
God answered our first prayer… Now we have to put all the prayers in the world that Boston after reviewing everything and not just the basics can help him. So far, things do look good.
God is amazing and he has a plan for all of us… When you are facing a tough time, believe in him, praise him, thank him for what you have. And if I’ve learned one thing out of any of this, it’s hold your children and love them every second… Love everyone, life is way too short not to tell someone you love them.
God we’re praying so hard for this…. Please let Boston Help

LAURA
Hi, a little bit closer to home for you is Dr. Kaza at Primary Children’s in Salt Lake City. He assisted Dr. Del Nido with my son’s surgery.
http://www.pedcardiology.utah.edu/team/doctors/surgeons/Kaza.html; phone number of the center is (801) 662-5400.
Dr del Nido is awesome, he not only is the most talented, he is also the most compassionate surgeon I have ever met. We recently went back to Boston for our one year check-up (passed with flying colors!) Since Will had 3 surgeries his sternum healed funny and Dr del Nido came inbetween surgeries to the cardio clinic, just to have a look himself at Will’s chest. He cares for his patients and gets many hugs of thanks, I have given him more that a few hugs myself!!! We absolutely love Dr. Marx too. He is very caring, smart (the best at reading echocardiograms and doing 3D imaging) he is the best Cardio, and he and Dr del Nido are a wonder team!
Also I see another comment about Dr. Kaza. Dr Kaza was Dr del Nido’s fellow when Will had his surgery. He was very nice and smart too. He was in the surgery room (although Dr del Nido does everything from skin open to skin close of all his UBAVC) and assisted in Will’s recovery.
He is the top of our list as who to go to if Dr del Nido is retired and Will needs any surgery as an adult.
Many prayers that Boston gets his records today and I know you will hear from Dr Marx an Dr del Nido as soon as they can reach you.
If you want to see pictures of Dr del Nido and Dr Marx I have some on Will’s carepage…taken just a few months ago at our check-up…you can see the compassion in their faces and the joy they have at seeing Will so well…and there is a pic of Will and 3 of his repaired ubavc friends…we all made our check ups for the same day and Dr Marx and del Nido loved it!! It was a true day of celebration and I believe that next year…Adien will be in the picture!

Still praying out here in CA. I can only imagine how amazing the prayer circle over aiden was.
IM IN!!
You are in our prayers…every time I tell Fiona that we need to say a prayer for baby Aiden she gets the biggest smile on her face…She’s only 5 months, but she’s praying too. We think of the three of you very often.
Baby Aiden will be just fine…Believe it. God is the ultimate Dr and decider. Please stay strong in this time of mixed emotions. My little Aiden is 1 and 1/2 and has just about the same diagnosis. And the first week was the hardest because it was a waiting game until they decided what was the best course of treatment. Please hang in there and PLEASE remember that God will get you through

Oh my goodness! Aiden! You are such a beautiful soul! I have only seen your picture from your Aunt Cindy and I have fallen in love! I am so moved by your story! You have a gleam in your eye that has a strong and powerful presence! You have made an impression on my heart like only a few others have. You will be in my thoughts and prayers from now until forever! I may never get to meet you in person or hold you or kiss you.. but you, like a few other little ones, have touched me at a level that no one will ever know or possibly understand! God Bless you sweet little one! And, tons of prayers to your mommy and daddy! They need them to! Stay strong and don’t give up! You will be carried through this and come out shinning! HUGS and KISSED sweet heart! LUV ALWAYS!!!! Kayci
Oh mercy — I’m crying as I read. Those up and downs are so hard. We lived them with Heidi. She confounded the doctors, though. She was not given a chance to live, but the Lord destroyed the incurable cancer and she lived a long time. Still, it was very different from what you are dealing with now. Aiden will live to grow up and have a normal life. We are praying.
With His love,
Pat Kashtock

Take It for What It’s Worth: A Child’s Brain Tumor
Hang in there. A year and a half ago, I was living at childrens in Denver with my daughter. She had a 3% chance of living and a 80% chance of brain damage. But our Lord is the ultimate healer! He works the most amazing miracles! My daughter is now 1 1/2 and free of any brain damage. The power if prayer!! I am praying for you and your family. This will get better. Aiden will survive. You have the most amazing healer and father watching over him. God bless Aiden and your family. May God give you rest during this time and strength. Many prayers- Shay and Emily
Amazing news!! Remember: With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Prayer is an Amazing, powerful thing! This got me through Trinity’s Journey: IF GOD BROUGHT YOU TO IT, HE WILL BRING YOUR THROUGH IT!!! Hang in there baby Aiden..Your journey is NOT over, you have a LONG life to live!
We had a nurse at the U of M tell us (probably not the most professional thing, but hey, they see it all) after hearing our story about how St. Louis wanted to put our son on the transplant list, that they see a lot of kids from both St. Louis and from DENVER and it seems like those two places are in a big hurry to transplant kids. I asked why that would be and she said it is the caliber of surgeon that they have there. If they had surgeons like DelNido or Bove or Hanley they wouldn’t offer that route b/c they’d be able to fix the kids themselves and not have to resort to transplant. Granted, this info came from a nurse and probably wasn’t meant to be shared, but it is something to consider. We parents are new to this CHD game and need all the tutoring we can get. If someone offers cliff notes, it’s worth it, right? Hang in there. I’m reading everyday and praying that Boston offers help.
yes…another little lesson here…”surgery is to risky” is code for “I cant do it, and your babies death will look bad on our surgical stats”
On a positive note….the top cardiac centers. Boston, Philly and UofMI…take more risks and are teaching and leading others. God Bless them.
Praying all the time for Aiden…he is on my heart.
I was just sent to this site by a friend of a friend of a friend…
CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful baby boy! And PRAISE TO GOD who does the impossible!
Our daughter, Rachel, was born 18 months ago with Spina Bifida, diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation. Prior to her birth, we were told that she would not live. And since her birth, we have been told all kinds of things that just haven’t been.
Our situations are similar in that God continues to step into this broken and fallen world and walk alongside us in our pain, and step in and work something miraculous out of the impossible!
The heartiest CONGRATULATIONS to you and prayers for the days ahead…from the mom of one “miracle child” to another…
